just to prove how little one needs to know and how much of everyone's time can be wasted, i never got out of fourth grade math. i remained in remedial math until i dropped out of high school. six years of the same class. six years of the same boring material i didn't get. did they really think that i'd get it the fifth time around?
needless to say helping Ari with her sixth grade math is damn near unintelligible for me. thankfully there are calculators.
